The health and
durability of nails depends on a variety of factors that have to do with our
diet, hormones as well as the treatment and how we use our hands on a daily
basis.
Below we will
give you some useful tips to ensure greater durability and hardness on your
nails!
Nutrition: A nail
treatment certainly can’t work wonders without the help from ourselves. Proper
nutrition rich in vitamins A, B, B12, C and D, as well as adequate intake of
iron, calcium and potassium, as well as protein, will help the body get all the
necessary substances to function normally. Having, therefore, given to our body
all the nutrients it needs, we have ensured sufficient "food" for our
nails, so that they become strong and prevent them from peeling.
Acetone: The
acetone contained in almost all varnish removers, as well as the pure acetone
commonly used in semi-permanent varnish removal, dehydrates the nails and skin
(especially the thinnest skin). Continuous and long-term use of this chemical
can cause severe dehydration, peeling of nails and skin, even burns with
improper use. For this reason we recommend great care!!
Thyroid: It is
known that an unbalanced thyroid causes the nails to peel and break. Nail
streaks also often indicate thyroid dysfunction. For this reason, many times
the first sign of dysfunction is found on the nails or hair.
Hydration:
Insufficient water intake, results in dehydration of the nails. For this it is required
to consume enough water, fruit or juice to ensure healthy growth and the needed
moisture in the nails. It is often useful, perhaps even necessary, to apply a
nourishing oil on the nail plate as well as in the cuticle area.
Protection:
Contact with various cleaning detergents or chemicals with a bare hand is one
of the first and most common causes of our nails becoming brittle, dehydrated
and weak. The powerful chemicals dry our nails and skin intensely. The
solution? Gloves!!
Base: A good and
nutritious base with vitamins before applying the varnish is essential!
Extra Tip: We
avoid nail biting!!
If your nails still need an extra treatment for strengthening, a very good solution is the treatments suggested below:
